Sunday

We did end up going to town this afternoon, so Lydia got her McDonald’s fix, and I got to do some grocery shopping. I got pretty much everything I need for Olof’s birthday party tomorrow (well, just dinner and dessert with his family, but we’re calling it a party to make Lydia happy), but I could not find quorn färs (mushroom-based ground meat replacement — yum!) anywhere! Why on earth would there be big run on quorn färs?! My last best hope is the little Konsum store here in town — I’ll run by there tomorrow morning and see if they have some. Otherwise, it’ll be bean filling for my tacos, and honest-to-goodness meat filling for everyone else (why do I suspect that I’ll be the only one who wouldn’t be happy that?).

Other than the shopping trip, it’s been an uneventful day ’round these parts. Lydia’s still under the weather, but seems to be feeling at least a little bit better. I really pushed the fluids on her today, and I think she must have drunk close to a half-gallon of Kool-Aid. I’m sure all that sugar wasn’t the best thing for her, but Kool-Aid’s as good a port as any in the storm of pending dehydration. She doesn’t go back to school until Thursday, and I’m counting on her being good as new by then. I’m looking forward to us getting back into a regular routine. All this chaos of vacation and holidays has worn me out. Just a few more days …
