This is probably the fifth time in the past few days that I’ve sat down and started to type up an entry, but one thing or another (usually Tage) has prevented me from getting anything posted. Come hell or high water, I will post this entry!
Things are going along more or less okay around here. Lydia has been sick with a bad cold/sore throat since Thursday, and she’s been pretty miserable. So far Tage and Olof and I have managed to avoid getting it, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that that luck holds. It’s too bad for Lydia that she has to lose so many days of her Christmas vacation being sick.
Olof went back to work yesterday, after having most of the month of December off. I’d be more disappointed by that if I had gotten a chance to see much of him during his vacation, but in reality, I’ll probably see more of him now that he’s working again than I did all month. He’s been busy around the house, mostly building a pellet storage room in the basement, and we’ve spent a fair amount of time with his family as well. I like his family very much and enjoy spending time with them, but family holiday celebrations aren’t exactly the “couple time” I would hoping we would have while he was free from work. Ah well, you can’t have everything, I suppose.
In other news, we got a new kitchen stove yesterday. It’s very nice, with a ceramic cooktop (something I was–and still am–skeptical about, but that Olof is quite enthusiastic about). We haven’t gotten a chance yet to try it out, as the outlet we have isn’t the right one for this stove and we’ll have to call an electrician next week to have it replaced. It’s frustrating to have a brand-new stove sitting in my kitchen and to have to cook on the old, worn-out one. At least it’s just a temporary situation.
Hmmm, what else? Oh yeah, Tage learned how to kiss! We were all lying in bed on New Year’s morning, when suddenly he leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. I hadn’t taught him how to do it, but I do kiss him all the time, so I guess he just learned by example. Since then he’s been a kissing maniac — it’s so cute!
Lydia wants to go to town to eat dinner at McDonald’s, but the car won’t start because it’s too cold (-22°C/-8°F). It’s just as well, anyway, as it probably wouldn’t be good for her to be out and about tonight, but I had considered sending Olof in to buy her a Happy Meal to bring home. I wanted to go to the grocery store, too, since I need a few things. We were supposed to have company for lunch tomorrow, but they’ve had to cancel, so I guess I don’t actually need too many things, but I’d still like to go. I feel like I haven’t been out of the house in ages!
