I stayed up last night to watch the Braves game and didn’t get to bed until 4:30 this morning. I’m so glad they won — otherwise I would probably have been exceedingly annoyed at missing out on so many hours of prime sleeping time. As it turned out, though, I didn’t lose as much sleep as I thought I would, even though I had to get up at 7:30 to get Lydia up and ready for school. As soon as she was out the door, I crawled back into bed, and didn’t get up again until she got home at 1:30 this afternoon! Olof brought Tage in to me at 11:30, but, sweet boy that he is, he went right to sleep and slept until I was ready to get up.
As you might imagine, the day rather flies by when one doesn’t get out of bed until early afternoon. It seemed I scarcely had a chance to have a bit of lunch and check my email and whatnot before it was time to start thinking about dinner. Before dinner, Olof and Tage and I took a walk down to Olof’s parents’ house and back, which is a good distance for a pre-dinner walk (about 1.5 miles, or 2.4 kilometers). When we got home, Olof decided he was in the mood to make dinner, so he made Wallenbergare (sp?) out of soy ground “meat.” They turned out to be pretty good, albeit a bit salty, and we ate them with french fries.
After we ate we walked to the store to pick up some stuff for dessert and a few liters of milk. We took the dogs with us, which is always an adventure. At least they were somewhat subdued this time because they had been out for a walk earlier with Olof’s mom and were a bit tuckered out. On our way to the store, we noticed that the bridge was slick with frost, and we had to do some careful stepping. When I complained about the impending winter, Olof assured me that it’s only six months or so until spring is on it’s way, so, by his manner of reckoning, winter is almost over!
