Tired, Gloomy, Cranky

Ugh. The weather really sucks. It’s cold, it’s windy, it’s rainy, and the sky is one giant cloud that seems to be hovering just above our heads. We were placing bets earlier about how long it will be before we see our first snow. I was tempted to say it would be within a week, but in the end I refrained from betting because it felt too much like jinxing myself.

In my Swedish class we’ve been talking a bit about the västerbottnisk writer, Torgny Lindgren, and on Wednesday we watched a short film based on a play of his. That one play is my only knowledge of his work, so I don’t know if he’s really any good, but when Olof read in the paper yesterday that he was going to be signing books today at the bookstore in town, I couldn’t resist going. It wasn’t much, as far as celebrity encounters go, but I did buy a copy of one of his books (Pölsan) and got it signed. I suppose now I’ll have to read it.

There’s another ballgame on tonight (okay, tomorrow morning), at 2am, and I really want to see it, but I honestly don’t know if I can stay up that late. I’m already practically falling asleep in my chair, and it’s only six o’clock. I thought about going to bed at ten or so, then getting up in time for the game, but I don’t really see myself rolling out of my cozy bed in the middle of the night, even for the Braves.

  1. Hi, it’s Debbie fro your Swedish class. I was looking up info for the Torgny Lindgren review we had to do for class and this page came up! I have a hard time writing papers in Swedish. I can’t express myself the way I want to. Anyway, it was cool you met Torgny Lindgren.

    See you in class!
