Nine years ago today I gave myself this guy for a birthday present. Every day I marvel at my knack for picking out just the perfect thing.

This afternoon when she came in from school Petra asked to borrow my camera because there was something “really cool” outside that she wanted me to see. A few minutes later she came in and showed me this, a heart designed by nature especially for my birthday:

Well, this is what we woke up to this morning: We got probably a foot of new snow overnight, and it didn’t stop coming down all day. Good thing we still have our studded snow tires on the car.
