Asbjørn

Nine years ago today I gave myself this guy for a birthday present. Every day I marvel at my knack for picking out just the perfect thing.

Dog of my heart

  1. Happy Birthday! What a beautiful picture. He looks so calm and collected (and thinner than before?).

  2. We have always had dogs ever since David (our youngest was three years old) until last January when our last dachshund was put to sleep due to illness and ever since I’ve missed the patter of paws on our floor as soon as I do something in the kitchen! I am working out how to give myself a labrador puppy in the summer – my husband’s birthday in August seems the natural choice but he has said “NO MORE DOGS” – any advice?

  3. Beverly…don’t even LOOK at the syntax of that sentence – I’m still trying to work it out myself when I read it through again! It sounded logical in my head – but then I’ve just woken up!

  4. I want to cwtch up with him! 🙂 Milo was/is the perfect fit for our family as well. I honestly can’t imagine life without her. And now that we’ve known the joy of her, we’ll never be without a Jack Russell in our house. I don’t think it’s just that she’s a Jack though. I think we were just really lucky and made that special connection with that special dog. Of course it helps that Si is like dog-trainer supreme, lol. The month that she had to stay back in the States just about killed me. As a family, we’d be completely lost without her. I really want you to meet her and I can’t wait to meet yours. Dogs are the shit. 🙂

  5. Thank you, Sarah! 🙂 Asbjørn is thinner than before — finally the vet agrees that he’s at a healthy weight! And he is (usually) very calm; he’s the perfect family dog.

Kathleen — way before we ever moved in together, I made it clear to Olof that I would always have dogs, and that if he didn’t agree it was a dealbreaker. No lie. I don’t do well without a dog. I hope you’re able to make your husband see the light!

Deb, I know! We need to meet each other’s dogs as much as we need to see each other’s kids, I think!
