Today has been a most excellent mom day, something I feel it important to record, if only so that I have it to look wistfully back upon on my more challenging days. We all got a good night’s sleep, with Petra sleeping a solid nine or ten hours and the rest of us only slightly less. Tage spent most of his afternoon with Lego Star Wars, while Petra played and hung around with us. I did a little reading and pimped my life re-potted my plants, and Olof did various computer-y things.
Everyone was mostly cheerful and relaxed all day, so we decided to take our chances and go out for dinner, our first public outing with all four kids. Much to my amazement, that turned out even better than I could have hoped. Despite the restaurant being crowded and a bit hectic, and despite there being two or three families there with out-of-control kids, my kids were little angels. I sat with them and read the paper while Olof went up front to place our order, and they were truly a model of good behavior. Honestly, it was hard not to feel pretty smug sitting there, my table an oasis of calm in the middle of the dining room.
So we ate and then we came home, and the peace and orderliness continued. Petra watched some Angelina Ballerina and I helped Lydia get started making a dream-catcher. Later I gave Tage a much-needed haircut, then he and Petra took a bath while I did some tidying up and drank a cup of tea. Brynja slept through most all of it (she’s a terrific sleeper, that one), and Olof occupied himself folding a papercraft Ceiling Cat to keep watch over the office.
All things considered, there aren’t many better ways to spend a Sunday.

Sounds like a very nice day!
What are these paper cats?! Never heard of them!
