Olof, the little kids, and I ventured out into the slush and fog this afternoon and came home bearing not one, but four pumpkins, as well as a half-dozen sweet potatoes and a frozen turkey. I’ve already roasted one of the pumpkins, and will shortly get going on the next. Now I have just about everything I need to do my part for our annual Thanksgiving feast next weekend.
This year we’ve booked this little mid-18th-century house that sits in the park next-door, and I think it will be lovely for our party. We’ve been wanting to rent it for the past couple of years, but this is the first year since we thought of it that Thanksgiving weekend didn’t coincide with First Advent, when a Christmas market is held there.

Hej Beverly – I’m SOOO impressed that you’re roasting pumpkins (did that once in Girl Scouts). I was grumbling about having to go into town (Malmo) to the American market to get canned pumpkin. Also had my dad send me pecans b/c they are about $20/Lb here!!! I’ve even found fresh cranberries at my local ICA – I don’t even like cranberry sauce – but ya gotta have it!! Have a great feast!!!

Who’s coming for your feast?
I’ve gotten used to roasting my own pumpkins, after almost five years up here in the Great White North, but there are times I would really love to have some canned at my disposal! And cranberries, too! They don’t stock them up here, but I’m lucky enough to have a bag in my freezer than my friend Leslie brought me last year!
Our feast will include my three American girlfriends up here, their husbands/sambos, a few kids, some assorted in-laws, and maybe a couple of other friends. We’re expecting maybe twenty people, so there’s going to be a LOT of food!
I assume the others contribute too (knytis) so that you don’t need to cook all that food by yourself!?
Yes, thank goodness, we’ve split the work up between the four of us American girls! I’m in charge of turkey, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pies! 😀
