Preparation

I finally roasted the pumpkin that’s been sitting on my counter for a month or so.  It turned out to be really good and flavorful, but unfortunately I got only enough purée for one pie.  Worse, all of the grocery stores I’ve been to are out of pumpkins so I might not be able to get any more.  I’ve got one more store to check out tomorrow, and if there aren’t any pumpkins to be had there, we’re going to be celebrating Thanksgiving with sweet potato pie. I’ll concede that’s not much of a sacrifice, but the purist in me really would prefer to serve pumpkin pie.
