Our doorbell just rang, and the ringer had bad tidings. Last week she had found Ola, hit by a car, down the road a ways from our house. He was very badly injured, so they ended his suffering and buried him. She just now saw our poster outside the grocery store, and came to tell us.
I’m sad — very sad — but I’m also glad that he was found by people with the heart to do the right thing, and I’m relieved to know that he’s not lost or hurt or suffering anymore.
Oh, he was such a sweet baby. I am so sorry.
We always take care of lost babies, and yes, we had to make one of those tough decisions last year too. It broke my heart. We never got to find the owners though. Which made it even worse for me to deal with.
