A little rant-y

This is the first chance I’ve gotten to sit down and type a real post in several days. If I try to type when Tage is awake he wants to be at the keyboard “helping” me, and he takes his naps in my lap, so I can’t type then, either (unless it’s one-handed, which is fine for shorter messages, but just isn’t on for long posts). Olof has been so busy with work lately that I’ve been on baby duty most of my waking hours.

I’m grateful for Olof’s job, for many reasons (not least of which is that it makes it easy for me to be home full-time with the kids), but lately I’ve been getting more and more fed up with how much he has to work. His vacation kept being pushed farther and farther back until it didn’t happen at all (most recently he was supposed to be able to take two weeks off when my mom visits, but now it turns out that’s not going to be possible — hello? It’s the end of October, for crying out loud! Most people finished up their vacations three months ago, and Olof hasn’t even gotten his yet!). The number of hours he works is insane, too … a few weeks ago he was sick and feeling burned out, so he “slacked off” a bit and wasn’t as diligent about putting in the hours as he usually is, and he still put in 38 hours! There’s something wrong if you work 38 hours on a “slow, lazy week.”

  1. I totally understand what you mean. My hubby works tons and then when he’s home, he’s working on another project that has yet to pay off (if ever!).
As for vacation, we haven’t taken one for almost 2 years now. There are the occassional long weekend here and there, but nothing significant. It drives me crazy.
38 hours for an ‘off’ week sounds extreme. Hopefully he can de-stress soon before he totally burns out. My hubby’s health is declining rapidly but he still hasn’t done anything about the stress. Sigh. Men!!
