It’s a beautiful, beautiful spring day today, the kind of day that always makes me want to go out for a drive. There’s not much better than soaking up the warm sun coming through the windows, turning up my favorite CD as loud as it will go, and hitting the open road. On the best of those drives, I’ve got good company in the passenger seat — sometimes my husband, sometimes a girlfriend, sometimes a drive-loving dog.

This afternoon I’ll be lucky enough to have my eldest daughter beside me as we head up north for a little mother-daughter overnight. There’ll be dinner, a movie, and, of course, shopping. It’s shaping up to be a good time.
