Another baseball season is underway, and for better or for worse — they lost their first four games — I’ve been able to see all but one of the Braves’ games so far. The first three were afternoon games, which means there were on in the evening here and I could watch them live. The others I’ve had to see the following day, which works just as well, really, as long as I manage to remember to stay away from certain websites until the game is over.
Tage and Petra are mildly interested in the game, and I’ve been trying to explain it to them, but it’s surprisingly difficult to do. In America, pretty much everybody has at least a rudimentary understanding of baseball by the age of seven or eight, but these kids are starting from scratch. I think I may have to turn their tutelage over to Wii Sports.
Fredrik asks me questions about baseball, basketball and football that I find totally ridiculous or that I can’t even explain because “it’s just the way it is!”. I always have to remember to be nice and remember he spent his Swedish upbringing with orienteering, hockey, soccer and skidskytte. 🙂
Yeah, my kids know all about brännboll, so maybe I’ll have to be satisfied with that. 😀
