We had a bit of an adventure here last night. Lydia was coming out of the downstairs bathroom and Tage was sitting outside the door on the floor. In taking extreme caution not to shut his hand in the door, she herded him to the side and shut the door firmly, not noticing that he had slipped his little finger into the crack on the hinge-side of the door. Poor little guy — his finger looks awful. Blood seeped out from under his fingernail most of the night, but by this morning it had stopped bleeding and just turned black. I expect he’ll lose the nail.
I think I felt worse for Lydia, though. She was so upset and I had a hard time getting her to believe that it was just an accident and that Tage was okay, and that he would still like her. She was so worried that someone would think she had done it on purpose.
After all of that, we didn’t get to bed until after midnight, and I had to get up to at six o’clock this morning to go to my class. Since we had a test, I didn’t have to stay the entire time and could leave as soon as I finished, which was nice. I got back home just before ten and would have liked nothing more than to crawl back into bed and sleep the day away, but of course Tage and Lydia didn’t think that would be a good idea. Lydia is home sick from school today with a cold and a hoarse throat, and she needs lots of tender loving care, as they say. Right now she’s asking for a hot dog, so I think I’d better run to the store for hot dog buns.
Howdy!! I came here from Ulrika’s/Medoue. I live in Canada and have two kids – 6 yr old daughter and 13 mo. old son. I also have a gap between my teeth that everyone else likes and I hate. BTW, your gap IS nice – not as big as mine…
I look forward to reading more.
