We got the beat

The purchase several weeks ago of Wii Music brought to the fore in Olof an unprecedented need to make music.  On the first day of his vacation (oh, didn’t I tell you?  He’s been off work since December 15, and doesn’t go back until January 7 … it’s awesome), he came home with a big, fancy, electronic keyboard on which he Twinkle-twinkle-little-starred his little heart out for many days before moving on … to Für Elise, too ambitious an undertaking by half, but he won’t listen to reason.

The rest of the family is getting in on the action as well, devoting much time to Guitar Hero World Tour, unwrapped first thing the morning of Christmas Eve.  Lydia is especially adept at strumming the bass line to “Eye of the Tiger,” a song that takes me way back to the playgrounds of my youth–like fourth grade, I am that old–when my friends and I jumped double dutch while listening to scratchy radio recordings of said anthem on one of these babies.

Rounding out our collection of music-making devices is the little acoustic guitar Olof and I gave Tage for Christmas.  He wasted no time covering it with Ben 10 stickers–another Christmas gift–so now it looks as good as it sounds.

  1. Haha. 😛 David has that world tour thing too. I’m about to ‘lose’ a piece of the drum set just to get some peace and quiet around here. We’ve already had to replace the guitar once since it started playing music on its own. Very disturbing and difficult since it wasn’t playing along with the songs… Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  2. Oh! My brother and I played Rock Bank on Christmas day for FOUR HOURS! Haha! How sad it that?! Merry Christmas to everybody else as they listened to Creep by Radiohead play a dozen times while my brother and I tried desperately to get a 100%! You are not alone! 🙂
