After weeks and weeks of a long, drawn-out fall, winter arrived in a great big hurry this past weekend. We woke on Saturday morning to a temperature of -14°C (7°F), and though it didn’t stay that cold for long, it was plenty long enough for those poor souls–Olof, Lydia, and Tage–who had to be outside for ice skating school.
We had warmer temperatures Sunday, and with them came our first real snow of the season. It snowed most of the day and evening, followed by wild and windy blizzardy conditions all night and into the day on Monday. More snow again today, but that’s stopped now as it’s gotten colder again (-10°C, 14°F). No matter, though … there’s more than enough of the white stuff out there to last me a good long time.
Olof took this picture of Lydia’s school building this afternoon on his way to pick Petra up from pre-school. It was about 1:30pm then, and yes, it really was that dark. I’m already counting the days to the solstice.
