A woman whose blog I read more or less regularly had a baby boy last week, and she named him Ezra. I got a little pang when I read that, because Ezra was my boy name, the name Petra would have been given if she’d been a boy, and a name I was still angling hard for when we were expecting Brynja. I’m pretty sure I won’t be having any more babies, and mostly I’m okay with that, but I really would have liked to have another little boy, an Ezra of my own.

Wistful

If you do have more children you could still name him (if it’s a boy) Ezra! It’s not taken in that way! But I understand what you mean. “My” name is Isolde and if anyone takes that, even if I don’t know them, I would feel like they really took my name!
Oh, my, that is funny. Ezra is MY name! I always wanted a boy named Ezra. I have two boys but dh said no way was he ever having a boy named Ezra. I never knew anyone else wanted that name as much as I did! I am now fixing to have at least a pet at some point in my life named Ezra!!:)
Nice to catch up on your blog.
Anna — There is a little part of me that wants to try for another boy, but I’m a little worried that we’d get another girl, and I think that might be the end of me (and Tage!). 😀 Honestly, though, I think four kids is enough for us, and I just need to give up the Ezra dream.
BethAnne — It’s great to see you! It’s been a while — how is everything? I know what you mean about the husband refusing Ezra … Olof was on board when I was pregnant with Petra, but he was starting to change his mind when Brynja was on the way. Now, even if we were going to have more, I doubt I could get him to agree to the name … I missed my window! I think maybe you’re right — Ezra could be a terrific pet name as well!
I fought for several names when I was pregnant with our first. I love Hans (the name of my favorite cousin) and Matthias but hubby would have no part in a german name. I’ve always hoped to use the name Signe (my great grandmother’s name) but that was vetoed as well. We’re definitely done with kids but I can’t help but feel a loss at not being able to use the name Calliope.
