Back to the grind

Today’s the first day of school for Tage and Petra and I totally fell down on the job, mom-wise, this morning. Ordinarily I would have gotten them up all cheerily, perhaps even prepared a special breakfast, and walked over with them to find their new classrooms. This morning, though, after having been awake for half… Read More Back to the grind

Wheels

My mother-in-law pimped her ride. I won’t bother asking if this is the coolest bike you’ve ever seen, because, duh. I’m so impressed, and also a little jealous.

More celebration

Brynja doesn’t have a day on the official Swedish name day calendar, but I’ve claimed August 16 for her, seeing as the name of the day — Brynolf — is built, in part, on the word brynja. Per name-day tradition here at our house, we had cupcakes and made a little extra fuss. After dinner… Read More More celebration

Birthday report

So Tage had, in his own words, “the best birthday ever.” As usual, we started the day with presents for the birthday boy (Legos were heavily featured), and after he took a break for a mercifully brief visit to the dentist, the party moved to Boda Borg, where he joined forces with Olof, Petra, and… Read More Birthday report

Sixes

My mom leaves for home in six days, the kids start school six days after that, and another week-plus-six-days later I start school myself. Moongazing

Last night, Tage, my mom, and I drove up to the top of Bureberget to take pictures of the sunset. I got some good shots, but my favorite, by far, is this one of my boy photographing the near-full moon:

Seagazing

Last month I got a new cellphone, a Nokia 808 PureView. It’s a good phone, sure, but really it’s all about the camera, and this shot alone convinces me that it was worth the purchase price.

Recap

So yeah, the ol’ blog has been sorely neglected of late, even more than usual. I’ve been pretty busy for the past week or so, but the biggest thing keeping me from the computer is Olof’s having introduced the kids to Minetest, an open-source Minecraft clone. All three of the middles are playing it, one… Read More Recap

Still here

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day, sunny and warm and marred only by the fact that Olof had to go back to work after four weeks of vacation. Those of us left at home were free to enjoy the sunshine, though, and after lunch I took Yrsa out to have her bath on the porch… Read More Still here
