Olof has been complaining of a sore throat all day, and I have a sneaking suspicion that he’s brewing the same sickness that sidelined me a couple of weeks ago and took Lydia out just after New Year’s. I really hope, for his sake, that that’s not what he has, but so far it seems to be starting out the same way that mine and Lydia’s did. At least we have throat spray now (thanks to my mom), so there will be a little something he can do to ease the pain if he does get that unrelenting sore throat.
Tage’s been incredibly fussy lately, and I think it’s due to the molars that are trying to push through his little gums. He’s been awake screaming during the middle of the night for at least the past three or four days, and that’s no fun for any of us. Seven-thirty comes too early even after a good night’s sleep, and it’s almost unbearable when we’ve been kept awake during the wee hours. I’m really hoping tonight will be better, although he’s been asleep now for about two hours, which bodes ill for us considering that his normal bedtime doesn’t even come for another hour or so.
I’m really excited about the upcoming issue of Mosaic Minds. We’re getting a lot of really great submissions and I can’t wait to see the whole issue put together. I wrote my recipe column this afternoon and sent it in, and I submitted a short fiction piece a couple of weeks ago, so I think my writing is all done for this go ’round. I know there will be quite a bit of editing work coming my way after our February 15 submission deadline, but for now it feels good to be on top of things.
