Last night Helena came to stay with us for a little while, and Olof and I wasted no time in pressing her into baby-sitting service today. Our cupboards were all but bare, and the temptation to leave the kids at home and go grocery shopping on our own was just too great for us to allow politeness to get in our way. We didn’t get away completely scot-free, as Petra came running with shoes in hand as we were on our way out the door, and we didn’t have the heart to leave her behind. So we weren’t entirely on our own, as it turned out, but shopping with just one kid is worlds easier than shopping with two or three, so neither Olof nor I was complaining.
After we did our shopping, we went downtown and did some browsing around, which meant that we were gone a little longer than I’d intended, but when we got home it seemed that nobody had even noticed we were gone. The three stayers-home were curled up on the couch watching Hairspray, and since they were well occupied on their own, I went upstairs to take a nap. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon, all things considered.
