Anniversary

Today was Olof’s and my first wedding anniversary. Not such a big deal, really, because we lived together for a couple of years before we got married, and we just had an almost-spur-of-the-moment courthouse wedding, but it’s an anniversary just the same. Olof surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of tulips this morning, and also gave me another flower that I don’t know the name of (it’s very pretty, though!). He’s not the romantic sort, so I was impressed and touched. I didn’t have anything for him, of course, because I thought we weren’t making a big deal, but I did make him a special dinner and pumpkin pie for dessert. All in all, a nice day.

In keeping with the anniversary theme, we watched Trista and Ryan’s wedding (the couple from The Bachelorette) tonight on TV. It was on in the States over a month ago, but we’re so behind the times that we’re just getting it now. Truth be told, I was actually a little surprised that Channel 5 got it that quickly. Anyway, for a wedding that cost almost four million dollars, it wasn’t especially impressive. I’ve liked Trista for the most part since she was on the first season of The Bachelor, but she was really out of control when it came to this wedding. There was pink everywhere, and it was a bit nauseating. Plus she had all this cutesy stuff and a baby-talky voice throughout the whole wedding program, and it turned me off. Come on, this woman is as old as I am. I think the worst thing, though, was her hair. It was just sort of blah — I expected something really amazing. Oh, and the veil … it really drives me crazy when brides have veils but don’t cover their faces with them. If you’re going to have it, don’t just have it stuck to the back of your head the whole time! If you don’t want to cover your face, just have a regular headpiece, for crying out loud!

Okay, I’ll stop now.

  1. Oh holy crap! I thought all the same stuff about her wedding too! I, for one, have always hated that baby voice thing she does. It’s a bit like she’s looking down on Ryan when she starts talking like that with him. Her hair, not impressive, and the veil looked a little too blah for a 4 million dollar wedding. I really felt bad for them though, with all the helicopters flying around. They seemed to be happy though, so I guess that’s all that matters. Debbie gives them 3 years max. haha
