So Lydia had a grand mal seizure Sunday afternoon. It was her first, and with any luck–and two daily doses of anti-convulsant meds–it will be her last. We had a few hectic hours, involving an ambulance ride, a battery of tests, and hours of waiting, waiting at the hospital. I’d be perfectly happy if we never had to do that again.
As luck would have it, Lydia’s doctor from the children’s clinic was the on-call doctor Sunday evening, and she went ahead and started her up on the epilepsy medication that day, rather than waiting for the results from the pending EEG. We went in today for said EEG, and hopefully will hear the results tomorrow.
Other than that, not much to report. Lydia’s feeling fine and is ready just to get back into the rhythm of her life. Olof and I are fine, too, if just a little more worried and watchful than we were a few days ago.
Glad to hear Lydia is OK. Does she have a history of seizures? I ask because I had a grand mal seizure once about 15 years ago, never went on medication and never had another. They think it was stress related. Go figure!
