The Nintendo Wii is due to be released in Sweden next Friday, and the excitement in this house has reached fever pitch. Olof pre-ordered one nearly three months ago, and he can hardly contain himself now that the big day is almost here. A few minutes ago he made me watch a ten-minute-long Legend of Zelda review, something which proves that he’s lost all perspective. He knows I don’t do video games … why on earth would I be interested in that? (Actually, I think it was just an excuse for him to see it again himself.)
He’s got his eye on two or three games, which will sock it to our budget but good. They’re running 600 SEK, or just under 100 American dollars, a price that’s just this side of madness. Even so, I’m less concerned about how much money he’ll be spending than about how much time. He’s already scheduled the release date as a vacation day, and he’s taking two-and-a-half weeks off starting December 15. I’d bet good money that by the time January 2 rolls around and he goes back to work I’ll be ready to toss the whole kit and caboodle in the nearest trash can.
Yeah, you’re right … I’d never do that. Do you know what those things’ll go for on eBay?
Good luck on that one.
Jackson just returned from a playdate where they played wii (tennis), and he wasn’t in love with it. Part of the problem could be that it was in the kid’s room, and his room was small. His comments below.
“Not really good graphics, and the people don’t have feet. They’re like stick figures actually. And your hand isn’t really steady and it’s too easy to hit someone. You need a lot of room to play it.”
Keep in mind that he’s 7 and probably didn’t have a lot of time to master the new controls. Take it with a grain of salt. We’re too cheap to buy it. He’ll have to content himself with his new (used) copy of super monkey ball.
At least Olof takes a vacation day and not a sick-day!
I guess you can at least be happy that Olof still has the child in him.
Vill du bli av med eländet i Januari kan vi kanske tänka oss att ta emot det 😉
All I know is Walmart has signs on every door saying, “Out of Wii”
Must be popular.
So did he get it? Has he moved from that spot since? We had to break it to Alex today that there is no way he is getting Wii for Christmas. I didn’t want him to keep hoping he might get it and be so disappointed on Christmas!
Might have to send him up there for a week to play with Olof! LOL!
Your family is envied by a loooot of gamers 🙂
Btw, Olaf should learn to keep the games to himself (and your kids ;-))
