It is when you’re a kid whose birthday is September 1, at any rate.

Lydia has been so keyed up all day about her birthday tomorrow that she’s only just now fallen asleep, at nearly midnight on a school night. Somehow I don’t think she’ll have any trouble getting up tomorrow, though.
