Today I got a slip in the mail to go pick up a registered letter. I figured it was just confirmation that the Swedish immigration authority had received the application for citizenship I sent them last week, so I didn’t get around to going down to the gas-station-slash-post-office until just before dinnertime. Imagine my surprise, then, when I opened the envelope and found instead a Bevis om Svenskt Medborgarskap (Proof of Swedish Citizenship) for me and Lydia! I knew they had shortened the waiting time quite a lot, but considering the state of most things in Sweden during the summer months, I expected it to take a lot longer than eight days before we heard anything back. I guess we must have gotten our applications in just before everything grinds to a halt in July — it does feel a bit anti-climactic to have it all over and done with so soon after applying, but you won’t hear me complaining. Weird to think about being a dual citizen, though.
Next up, Swedish passports!
Grattis Beverly! (och Lydia!!)
Now you have to eat sill and messmör (well not together) and do that quick suck of air when you talk. Oh and make a weekly pilgrimage to Systemet. 😉
Hey hey hey…it is July 1st! I was thinking about you before I went to bed last night thinking, “Good, NOW the baby can come!” So mr./miss baby, come on down! 😉
