Earlier today we ventured out in the snow (yes, it snowed this morning!) for a checkup with the midwife. It was an uneventful appointment, which was good. My weight is up only one kilogram from four weeks ago and the baby is measuring right on time. Less good is that my iron is still low, but I long ago gave up hope of ever having good iron numbers. Also, my blood pressure was very low — 90/56 — and that gave me a bit of worry until I got home and read online that it’s perfectly normal for my stage of pregnancy and no cause for alarm in “otherwise asymptomatic women.” It does annoy me a bit that I had to get that information from a website and not from my healthcare professional, but by now I’ve learned nothing if not to expect a rather lackadaisical sort of prenatal care here.
