Most of the time I think that I having Olof work from home is a great thing for our family, but there’s a downside, too. Of course, working in an office wouldn’t guarantee that he worked 9-5 days, but it would probably mean that he wouldn’t work until sunrise the way he has the past two days (and does not altogether infrequently in general). Him having an office job would also likely mean that our phone wouldn’t be ringing off the hook at all hours of the day and night, even on weekends and holidays. I’m tempted to be thankful that the weekend is here, but chances are it won’t make much difference in the hours he puts in in front of the computer.
On other fronts, things are going mostly well. While I wouldn’t be surprised if we haven’t seen the last snowfall of the season, I do think that spring has finally arrived. The past two days I sat out on the porch with a book while the kids and dogs ran back and forth–we have a very big porch–in the fresh air and sunshine. Yesterday I even took about half of my pelargoniums outside for a few hours so that they could catch some rays, too. I lost a fair number of plants and cuttings over the winter, but those I have left (about 50 plants) are looking really good and I’m starting to get excited about this year’s growing season. Maybe if I can drag Olof away from his desk over the weekend we’ll make a trip out to my favorite plant nursery.
