Short little span of attention

The first summer that I lived in Sweden, my friend Leslie taught me how to crochet. I started out with potholders then moved quickly on to scarves and stocking caps, branching out eventually into granny squares, doilies, and snowflake tree ornaments. I did rather well with small items that didn’t take long to complete. Then, several days after I found out I was pregnant with Tage, I embarked on my most ambitious project, a baby afghan.

Today, less than three-and-a-half years later, I finally completed it. Both Lydia and Olof have asked if I was going to save it for the new baby, but since I started it for Tage, it hardly seemed right to give it to someone else. He seems to agree:

(The colors aren’t reproduced well here — it’s actually dark purple and teal rather than sage and cornflower.)

  1. You finally finished it!! It’s pretty!! Would you believe I’ve never finished the afghan I began all those years ago in that same pattern. It doesn’t lack much and I’ve made at least 3 other afghans in the meantime, but I just can’t seem to get back to that one. LOL!
