Monday

Last night I had the worst night’s sleep I can remember having in a long time. Really, it’s inaccurate even to call it “sleep” — rather, it was hours upon hours of tossing and turning, broken up by intermittent catnaps. Making it worse, Tage had fallen asleep at eight o’clock in the evening and stayed asleep all the way through to morning for perhaps the first time in his life, which meant that he was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed after Lydia left for school, when all I wanted to do was go back to bed.

The sleeplessness was likely due to the fact that we rearranged our bedroom furniture yesterday and our bed is no longer where it’s been since we moved into this house nearly three years ago. Lydia likes to “re-decorate” her bedroom and move everything around every six weeks or so, but that’s something she obviously didn’t get from me — I think that if Olof hadn’t gotten all fired up to move our bed yesterday, I would happily have left it where it was for years and years to come (even though I do have to admit that it’s better where it is now).

After Olof performed the heavy task of moving the bed, I set about cleaning the room, a chore that took an embarrassingly long time to complete given that it’s the bedroom of two adults who should be able to maintain a relatively tidy space. As I know I’ve mentioned before, Olof and I are a very bad match when it comes to housekeeping. I find myself wishing on a near-daily basis that one or the other of us were a neat freak, but so far that wish hasn’t come true.

Lucky for me, though, the two of us are a very good match in most other areas, including his understanding of my very real need for sleep and lots of it. After lunch he took over Tage duty for a couple of hours and let me take a long nap. To thank him, I later took the not-inconsiderable risk of whipping up a batch of the infamous pizza dough so that we could have a tasty dinner. In case anyone is wondering, I did manage to come away unscathed.

  1. I am like Lydia, I have to move stuff around often. Though I find I can do that less in this house than in any other house I have ever lived in because of space and the stupid wall radiators being in the way everywhere. So I have to make myself content with turning the dining table in a different direction every month or so! LOL!

Right now our bed is against the wall. I don’t think you have been to the house since we moved it that way, but soon it will have to be moved back into the middle of the wall because I won’t be able to scoot my big ass to the end to get off when my belly starts getting big. 😉 I am glad though because Tor has been sleeping on MY side of the bed since we moved it. He refused to sleep against the wall. I NEED my side of the bed back!

  2. This is a question rather than a comment:

I clicked on the Infamous Pizza thinking I might find an interesting recipe and lo and behold, I got on to Beverly’s Journal which seems to have more entries than the Revelry. Like your brother’s new baby (congrats). And a lot more comments. So what’s going on and what should we be reading?

  3. Les,

Olof kept trying to talk me into switching sides of the bed (we both used to have a nightstand, but his side doesn’t have one now), but I flat-out refused!

    Elisabeth,

The other “journal” is my LiveJournal, which I used before I got my own domain a year-and-a-half ago. When I started this blog, I had a fairly large friends’ list over there and it seemed easier for everyone who already read me there to keep reading me there, so I started cross-posting everything. There really aren’t more entries over there–the thing with my brother’s baby was because he hadn’t been able to get in touch with my mom yet when I posted and I didn’t want her to read the news here first by accident. Otherwise, I will occasionally post a quiz or something there that isn’t here, but that’s almost never the case.

Truth be told, I wish everyone who read over there read here instead, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. But to any of you reading this message here — beverlyrevelry is the “real” deal, so don’t jump ship! 😉

  4. Okey dokey. I’ll continue with the Revelry. And I’ll make sure to stay away from your pizza recipes!
