Happy Lucia Day!

I just realized that I don’t know what the appropriate Lucia greeting is, if indeed there is one. In any case, I hope it was a good day for all of you here in Sweden (or anywhere else that the day is celebrated, for that matter). I was instructed by Lydia to make both saffron buns and gingersnaps, so I spent most of the afternoon baking, only to find out when we got to Olof’s parents’ house that his mom had told Lydia yesterday that she had just made saffron buns and we didn’t need to bring anything. Her habit (Lydia’s, I mean) of hearing only what she wants to hear is a touch on the annoying side sometimes.

Unnecessary baking aside, however, we had a nice evening with dinner followed by coffee and goodies. Olof’s sister, Anna, and her three kids joined in the fun and we took plenty of pictures. Tage wasn’t really in the mood to go along with everyone else, but as you can see, Lydia whipped him into shape like a big sister should.

  1. Too cute!! Lydia is so grown up looking! Hey, btw, did she ever get the email Alex sent to her on her name’s day?

  2. Oh, sheesh, I’m such a bad mother/friend! Yes, she did get it and I showed it to her — she was all excited and I told her I would help her answer it later, but … later never came, and she gave up asking. I don’t know why I’m so email challenged …

  3. LOL! I was afraid it might have gotten deleted since you wouldn’t recognize the email address. I got him his own account a few months back so he could write my family. The thing is, he loves getting mail, but it is like pulling teeth to get him to answer! Gets it from me! HAHA!!
