It’s been pretty uneventful around here lately, It rained more or less constantly over the weekend, so we were in most of the time. Also, Olof has a big project that has to be finished by Wednesday, so he worked most of the weekend. I feel bad for him right now, because he’s so busy and stressed out, and he’s been sick on top of it, so he’s not feeling particularly chipper. I hope he gets the chance to take some time off after this project is finished. He never did end up getting any vacation this summer (well, he did take a few days in early July, but that hardly counts, especially by Swedish standards), and I can tell he’s starting to feel a bit burned out.
Lydia was home sick from school today, which means that I didn’t go to school either. She was running a fever for most of the night and she was pretty warm and a little hoarse in the throat when it was time to get up for school, so I decided just to keep her home for the day. I could tell she wasn’t feeling well yesterday because she went to bed on her own and fell asleep at seven-thirty or so last night, and usually she’s still resisting going to bed at nine or ten (or even later!). I think a quiet day of rest and little activity has done her good, because she seems a lot perkier now.
We got a package of clothes in the mail today from a woman on Amerikanska who was cleaning out her daughter’s closet and offered the hand-me-downs on the talk forum. I wasn’t sure if the clothes would fit Lydia, since she’s a bit big for her age, but I figured they would fit Saga (my niece) if they were too small for Lydia, so I went ahead and sent the woman a message that I was interested. It turns out to have been a great deal for us, because everything fits her perfectly and it’s in like-new condition. She got a few pairs of pants, two skirts, a dress, several shirts, three pairs of capri pants for next summer, a couple of cardigans, and a nice thick fall jacket, all for the price of postage (130:-, or about $15)! She’s been modeling all her new outfits for us and having quite the dilemma about what to wear to school tomorrow.
if we get a daughter I’ll have lots and lots of clothes to inherit from my broher (4 girls) and if I’ll get a son…. he’ll be wearing lots of pink stuff LOL
Wow, four girls! I suppose it would be nice to have a boy in the family, but it would also be great if you could get lots of hand-me-downs! 😉
