It’s official — I’m hooked on geraniums. For years I managed to stave off the beast, convincing myself that three or four of these lovely plants were enough for me and that I didn’t need anything beyond the usual varieties to make me happy. Alas, even the strongest of us has a breaking point and it seems that I reached mine today. Not only did I spend an inordinate amount of time checking out nursery sites online, but I actually placed a bid for an Orange Appeal cutting on Tradera. Bidding in online auctions has heretofore been reserved for coffee cups and cream pitchers, but I moved on to a whole new level today. Perhaps even more diabolical, I suggested to my husband that he take me to dinner in town, then managed to talk him into racing the clock to make a last-minute stop at Blomsterslottet, “The Flower Castle.” We pulled into the parking lot five minutes before closing and had just enough time to race in and buy two more geraniums (salmon and hot pink) and another packet of seeds (Blueberry Ripple) to go along with the two packets I had bought earlier in the day. This desperate, insatiable need for geraniums can be described only as an addiction. Here is my budding (sorry, terrible pun) collection:
