All day long the kids have been counting down the hours until midnight, when we’ll bundle ourselves up and go outside to watch the fireworks for as long as we can stand it before the cold drives us back inside. Their excitement has just about reached fever pitch, and we’ve still more than two hours to go. I’m afraid, judging from the looks of them (not to mention the amount of sugar they’ve had this evening), that someone is going to crash before we reach the new year, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Right now I’m just thinking that a little peace and quiet wouldn’t come amiss.

“Tenterhooks” and “amiss” back to back…I love your writing! You do have a way with the language! Happy New Year to you and yours!
