This afternoon I managed to sneak away to Helena’s for a quick lunch with her and Fredrik, Debbie, and Melanie. We had tasty food, good company, and warm sunshine on the balcony, so all in all a good time, even though I could stay only an hour-and-a-half or so. Things took a turn for the exciting when I left — a new parking lot or something is being put in just outside Helena’s front door, and when it was time for me to go home I saw that there was a huge hole where there should have been normal ground! I had to turn around and do a sort of rappelling maneuver to get out of the house, then walk across a big ditch and crawl up the other side. In sandals and light-colored pants. To my own amazement, if no-one else’s, I managed to get to the other side without making a fool of myself, or getting my pants dirty. I did end up with a fair amount of sand and gravel in my shoes, but you can’t have everything, I suppose.
