Going into the weekend I had high hopes for getting a lot of work done outside. We’re building some raised beds for a vegetable patch, and I really wanted to get that done so I could plant my seeds. I also have some flower seeds I wanted to plant, and there’s a fair bit of general tidying up that needs to be done in the yard, and I was looking forward to being able to put a big dent in those chores. Of course, almost none of it got done.
Olof did go down to his parents’ place and pick up the rest of the materials we need for the beds, and he also readied the building area, so we’re almost set there, but I did pretty much nothing, mostly because it’s been too danged cold to be outside for very long. The temperatures have been in the low 50s (F), and when you add in a near-constant wind and the occasional sprinkling of chilly rain, it’s pretty well unbearable, especially considering that it’s the first week of June. In March I’d probably think this weather was heavenly, but now? Not so much.
I confess I was having some uncharitable thoughts about Sweden this afternoon, quite out of the spirit of the National Day we’re supposed to be celebrating. Don’t get me wrong … it’s a wonderful country and I’m happy to live here, but I’m so tired of being cold all the time.
Hang in there! Hopefully the weather with cooperate soon! Love ya!
I just found out that none other than TRAIN is going to be in a town about an hour from here the day after tomorrow! Oh how I wish you were here to go with me!
