First, I want to thank everyone who sent me birthday greetings, be it via phone call, postal mail, email, ecard, a message here or on one of the messages boards I frequent, or even in person. I know it sounds hokey, but I feel truly blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life who were thinking about me today (and on other days, too, of course — I don’t express my appreciation for all of you nearly often enough).
It’s been a pretty good day, with presents this morning and leftover birthday cake for breakfast. The weather was positively glorious today, with blue skies and warm sunshine. While Lydia was at school, I put Tage in the stroller and put Asbjørn on his leash and the three of us went for a nice walk around our little town. Even though I was wearing only a t-shirt and a light jacket, I was too warm by the time we got home. I think spring has finally come to northern Sweden … now if only we could be quit of all this snow!
I’m not sure if it’s because Olof is gone or if it’s just “one of those things,” but the kids’ sleeping habits have gone completely out of whack. Last night Lydia went to bed, of her own volition, at ten past seven and slept all the way until it was time for her to get up and get ready for school this morning. Tage took a late-ish nap so he and I didn’t go to bed until around eleven, and he (and consequently I) slept fitfully for most of the night. He got up about quarter to nine this morning, and is still going strong now, at eight o’clock in the evening, despite not having taken a nap, quite possibly for the first time ever. I can hardly wait to see what tonight brings.
Did anybody else catch that new show Nip/Tuck last night (if you’re in Sweden, that is … it’s an American show, but I don’t know how current last night’s premiere was)? Anyway, what a strange show … it was a like Extreme Makeover meets Kingpin, with a whole slew of wacky turns of events. It was only an hour long, but I felt positively exhausted by the time it was over. I suppose I’ll try to withhold judgement until I’ve watched another episode, and I’ve no doubt I will be watching another episode, as it seems right up Olof’s alley. Lucky for him they re-run it Saturday night, after he gets home from Mexico.
