The other night I was making waffles for dinner, and I decided to fry up a couple of packages of bacon as well. Lydia came into the kitchen as I was laying the bacon strips in the skillet and asked what they were for.
“We’re having them with dinner,” I said.
“Aren’t we having waffles?” she asked, a slight wrinkle in her forehead.
When I nodded, her expression turned skeptical. “But bacon doesn’t go with waffles.”
“What?” I looked at her a little askance. “Yes, it does.”
“Are you sure?” she asked, giving a little shudder. “That would be like having pancakes and bacon. Ew.”
Yes, Swedish and American food combinations can be quite different. I like it. It keeps things interesting. 🙂
