Pillow talk

After going ’round and ’round about it for a few weeks, Olof and I put up bunkbeds for Petra and Tage this afternoon.  It was an easy enough task, seeing that we just had to put Tage’s bed on top of Petra’s and screw in the assembly hardware (which, amazingly, we had actually bagged up and labeled when we last took it apart).  They have a lot more floor-space now, and they’re happy as clams with the whole arrangement.  They might be singing a different tune come bedtime, as they’re used to sleeping together–we had their beds pushed together so that they had a king-size sleeping area–and up until now one of the worst threats I could make was to move their beds apart if they didn’t settle down and JUST GO TO SLEEP ALREADY.  I have a sneaking suspicion that they’ll both end up sleeping in the top bunk.

Brynja has been napping for a couple of hours and hasn’t yet seen the new set-up, but I’m sure she’ll love it, too.  I myself am looking forward to many fun-filled hours spent pulling her off the ladder and enjoying the ensuing temper tantrums.

On the subject of Brynja and beds, she slept in her own bed last night for five whole hours.  She was asleep on the couch when Olof and I went up to bed just after one o’clock (why, oh, why is Silent Witness on so late?!), so Olof put her in her bed instead of ours.  We’ve tried that trick before, but never successfully until last night.  Wonder of wonders, this time she not only stayed asleep, but slept there on her own until six in the morning!  When she woke up, Olof brought her over to our bed, where she slept until eight-thirty or so.  What a night!  (It would have been better, of course, had Petra not crawled in with us some time in the wee hours, but you can’t have everything.)
