Shortly after I posted my list of things gone missing, I found my fingernail clippers buried among the clutter on Lydia’s desk (truthfully, that should always be the first place I look for anything that’s been misplaced). It was no accident that those clippers occupied first spot on the list–the value of good fingernail clippers is hard to overrate–and I stopped worrying so much about the other items once I’d found them.
I know, I know, one of those items was my wedding ring … a word about that is probably in order. The ring I lost the other day was a cheap stainless steel band that I bought on eBay a few years ago (after I lost my real ring, and lost it good, it would seem). I’ve grown fond of that cheap ring (and really, it looks just as genuine as Olof’s white gold band), and the thought of having lost it forever did give me a little pang, but it wasn’t as big a loss as it might have been, were it another sort of ring.
After a couple of days went by without it turning up, I went back to eBay and ordered myself another stainless steel ring (two, actually — I ordered a “his and hers” set, both in my size, just in case). Tonight, however, while I was picking up laundry to take downstairs and wash, I heard a little metallic pling, pling on the floor and looked down to see that my ring had dropped out of the pile of clothes. Yay! It’s too late to cancel the other order, so once the new rings arrive I’ll have a spare, and, well, a spare. I’m sure they’ll come in handy one day, as long as I don’t lose them before I need them.
So now all that remains to be found is Petra’s DS. It’s the largest, by many times, of the lost things, and I’ve looked and looked for it for days, but it remains elusive. I’m sure, though, that it will surface before too long; we’re in a finding trend, after all.
Just learnt today what DS in Nintendo DS stands for! Double Screen! But I guess you knew that already! 🙂
