We needed to pop by the vet’s office today to re-stock our supply of Asbjørn’s diet food, so we decided to take him with us for an official weigh-in. He’s down three kilos (almost seven pounds), which is less than I was expecting but still good. It’s been six weeks since we started this plan, which means he’s losing an average of half a kilo a week. The experts all say that dogs lose weight slowly, so I suppose that’s probably a good rate. I really was expecting a more dramatic loss, though, because we’ve been pretty darn rigid about sticking to the program, deviating from it only a handful of times (and then only unintentionally — he’s a wily one, and no loaf of bread left untended will last for long around here). Not only that, but he’s been getting a lot more exercise these past few weeks than he’d been getting. So, a bit of a disappointment, but we’ll just have to push past it.
Easy for you to say, he thinks:

Yes, but he looks as if his love handles are gone. What is the percentage of his total weight? It’s probably a pretty big percentage. Hang in there
