I’m participating in a year-long “secret sister” exchange with some friends on another website, and I’m so afraid I’m going to inadvertantly reveal myself. I really want to be able to keep the secret until Christmas (the agreed-upon reveal date), but it’s so hard not to make a mistake that will give me away. I’m having a lot of fun with it, though.
I just got done eating two pieces of the tastiest new dessert I’ve made in a long time. I’m not going to reveal here what it was, because I think I’m going to use it in my next Gravy Train column for Mosaic Minds. Just trust me when I say that it’s the last thing you’d expect to have for dessert.
Lydia went back to school yesterday after having a whole week off for sportlov (sport vacation, sort of … it’s really common for people to go on ski trips and the like during that week). She’s having a bit of a hard time getting back in the swing of going to bed early and getting up early. She’s taken to sleeping in her clothes every night just so she can save herself a few extra minutes of rushing around in the morning. As you might imagine, she goes to school looking somewhat rumpled and a little the worse for wear, but I guess I can live with that (especially if it eases even a bit of the morning stress).
Speaking of sleep, Tage is asleep right now, which is a bit annoying. It’s way too late for a nap, but he fought sleep for four or five hours before ultimately giving in. If it had been closer to bedtime when I could see that he was going down for the count, I might have tried to keep him awake just a little longer then put him straight to bed, but it was 5:30 when he finally succumbed and there was no way we could keep him up until a suitable bedtime. I hope this doesn’t bode ill for our sleeping tonight.
I just realized, though, that I should run down and take a shower while he’s still asleep or I won’t get a chance until tomorrow, and that would be a Very Bad Thing.
