Today was Tage’s last day, ever, at the pre-school where he’s spent two years.\u00a0 We’ve been making a rather big deal of it, Olof and I, but the boy himself seems more or less unmoved by the whole thing.\u00a0 Me, though … I’m a mess. To think that my baby boy has gotten so big and will be moving on to kindergarten in the fall.\u00a0 *sigh*<\/p>\n
Also, I’ve loved his school and his teachers and the other kids there so much that I feel really sad that he won’t be going there anymore.\u00a0 The only thing keeping me from turning completely maudlin is knowing that Petra will be starting there in a couple of months and we won’t be having to make a total break just yet.<\/p>\n
We got Petra’s orientation schedule when we went to Tage’s final conference on Tuesday, and she’s all set to start on August 12.\u00a0 That’s a week before the other kids start school, which is both good and bad, I suppose.\u00a0 It shortens my summer sleeping-in time by a several days, but I think it will probably be better not to have her first orientation week coincide with Tage’s first orientation week (they do a “soft start” for both pre-school and kindergarten here in Sweden, so it can be a couple of weeks before the kids are on their own at school;\u00a0 it also takes them a little while to work up to the full however-many hours per day the kids are there, so it might well be two or three weeks before we’ve got a good routine going).<\/p>\n
Once we get all settled in, though, it looks like it will be just Brynja and me for at least a couple of days every week, which I have to admit will be nice.\u00a0 It hasn’t been determined just yet which days Petra will be at school, but we do know that Tage will go Monday through Thursday.\u00a0 On one hand, I think it would be nice if Petra were also off on Fridays, but I can also see how it might be good if I had one day with just Tage and Brynja home.\u00a0 I worry a little sometimes that Tage gets pushed aside a bit in favor of his much more demanding sisters, and it would be nice to have some regularly scheduled Petra-free time with him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
