Quite out of the blue, it was announced today that the company Olof has worked for for the past 7\u00bd years, MySQL, was acquired by Sun Microsystems for the staggering–to me, at any rate–sum of $1 billion US.\u00a0 In the short term, things should stay more or less the same, but what this will mean for Olof, and by extension, me and the kids, in the long term is anybody’s guess.\u00a0 Olof’s a very laid-back, take-it-as-it-comes kind of guy, so after the initial surprise wore off he mostly stopped thinking about it.\u00a0 Me, on the other hand, I deal less well with change.\u00a0 It’s a good thing, then, that it’s him actually dealing with it, and not me.\u00a0 Not yet, at least.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
