I’m well and truly tired of listening to my music on the clock-radio, and I’d also like to be able to do a little track-programming and random-playing. Olof’s reasoning against a stereo was that the computer could meet all my music needs, making a completely separate system superfluous. I’m sure he was right, except for A: my computer upstairs is old and slow and has crappy speakers, and B: I simply can’t be bothered to rip all my CDs and sort through folders and create playlists and whatnot. I want just to put in a CD or three and push play; as far as I’m concerned, anything more is far too much work.

So, for the past couple of months I’ve been on a mission, and yesterday afternoon Helena, Lydia, and I were in the electronics store checking out Lydia’s latest must-have cell phone (which she is of course not getting) when I wandered over the the stereos and found exactly what I was looking for, and for a very reasonable price. Long story short, this morning we took down my all-but-useless computer and put a nice little sound system in its place.

Of course, that leaves me without a computer upstairs, which isn’t without its problems. But, you know, I also saw some nice laptops yesterday. That could be just the solution I’m looking for.

Though it offended his tender sensibilities mightily, Olof finally agreed yesterday to let me buy a little stereo system with a CD-changer.
