Usually it passes without my giving it much notice, but this year it was in the back of my mind because I had seen it noted on the kids&#8217; school-lunch menus earlier in the week.<\/p>\n<p>Around noon yesterday, Helena called and said that Debbie would be coming out later and that they&#8217;d come by my place in a couple of hours.\u00a0 I made a roll cake for us to\u00a0 have with coffee and was in the middle of a quick tidy-up when I remembered Cinnamon Bun Day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have a hostess dilemma!&#8221; I told Olof.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What,&#8221; he asked, deadpan, &#8220;not enough coffee cups?&#8221;\u00a0 (For those who don&#8217;t know, I have easily a hundred coffee cups, and haven&#8217;t stopped buying them.)<\/p>\n<p>I made a face at him, then answered, &#8220;No.\u00a0 It&#8217;s National <i>Kanelbulle<\/i> Day, but I&#8217;m not sure if I have enough time to make a batch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He assured me that if I didn&#8217;t get them made in time to serve them to my friends, he would eat their share, so I dropped the vacuum and hurried to the kitchen to whip up the dough.<\/p>\n<p>As it turned out, I had just enough time;\u00a0 the buns finished their second rise and went into the oven just a few minutes after our guests arrived.\u00a0 All things considered, I think the roll cake was better, but I felt like such a good little <i>hausfrau<\/i> with my proper treat on the proper day.<\/p>\n<p>In other news, the turning around of Tage&#8217;s schedule is going rather better than I had expected.\u00a0 Both Tuesday and last night he fell asleep between 9 and 9:30 and stayed asleep until morning.\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t have school this morning, so I did go back to bed with him after Lydia left&#8211;old habits die hard, you know&#8211;and we didn&#8217;t get up until 11:00.\u00a0 We&#8217;re both nursing a cold, so the extra rest did us good, but I&#8217;m hoping it doesn&#8217;t come back to bite me tonight at bedtime.<\/p>\n<p>Also bedtime-wise, we&#8217;ve been working for the past week on night-weaning Petra, which for us means that Olof takes her downstairs and sleeps with her for an unspecified period of time until she&#8217;s adjusted to not nursing in the night.\u00a0 This arrangement is, of course, much better for me than it is for Olof, but I&#8217;m not losing any sleep over it (haha, I kill me).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kanelbullensdag, or Cinnamon Bun Day, observed every year on the fourth of October.
