I’ve got so much to do and I’m not making any headway. I have until December 18 to finish up the coursework for my Swedish class so that I can be done with the B-level (and done forever … forever, I say!) with Swedish classes. I have to read a text by a twentieth-century Swedish author (I’ve chosen selected short stories by C.J. Charpentier) and write a literary essay about it. I have to read a classic (I picked Walden<\/i>), and give an oral report about it. I have to study up on the development of the Swedish language and be prepared to discuss said development in a seminar setting. I have to write a debate article on a topic yet unknown to me. And I have to write a book review on The Alchemist<\/i> by Paolo Coelho (actually A-level work that I haven’t completed yet). Eesh, when am I going to do all this?!<\/p>\n
I’ve also undertaken a new project that I’m pretty excited about. I’m going to be working on a brand-new ‘zine with a group of women I respect and admire. The idea came from Carrie<\/a>, and it’s really taken off in just a few days. I’m going to be editing, mostly, but I plan to do some writing, too (when this end-of-year craziness has settled down). We’re tentatively planning mid-January for our launch, and we have a lot of work to do between now and then. It feels good to have a project, though, and it feels like it will be work I can be proud of.<\/p>\n The most pressing task on my mind right now, though it’s not as big an undertaking as those I’ve already mentioned, is our Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday evening. I have an unbelievable amount of housework to do between now and then, not to mention cooking a turkey and concocting various other delectable treats. At least I have quite a bit of help this year.
