Olof has just taken Tage to go in for an afternoon nap, and I’m supposed to be taking the opportunity to work on my informative speech for class tomorrow. The topic is “Thanksgiving,” and I’m going to be talking about the history behind the tradition and the ways we celebrate it. It’s supposed to be given mostly “free-style,” with only a written introduction and conclusion, and just an outline for the rest, so I’m not sure how much work I really need to do. I suppose I should look up a few words I need in Swedish but don’t know (e.g. Thanksgiving, Pilgrim, harvest).<\/p>\n
Speaking of Thanksgiving, I’m hosting a little dinner the Saturday after and Helena and Fredrik and Debbie and Stefan will be coming over to celebrate with us. I haven’t been able to find a turkey yet, and I’m getting a little concerned about that. We may end up eating turkey breast fillets or something if I can’t find a whole bird. I didn’t have any trouble at all finding one last year, so I was a bit surprised that I haven’t seen any this year. I also don’t have cranberries. I should find out if my grocery store can order them in time. Otherwise we may have to make do with lingonberry jam.
