The last time I had my hair cut in a salon was close to five years ago, just a month or so after I moved to Sweden, and it was not a good experience.  It&#8217;s taken me a long time to work up the courage to give it another go, but today I felt sufficiently brave and took myself to the hair salon.  I&#8217;m very happy with the results (although I suspected I probably would be, since I went to the same stylist who always does a terrific job with Lydia&#8217;s hair), but I&#8217;ve yet to see what will happen when I try styling it myself.  I&#8217;m a bit afraid to get it wet, because all that nice, smooth straightness is going to disappear in a tangle of curls, and I&#8217;m not sure I have the skill or patience to deal with it.
