In an unprecedented (by me, at least) crocheting feat, I finished the afghan that I started for the new baby last Thursday. It’s smaller than the one I did for Tage, plus the pattern went much more quickly since it was entirely made up of single crochet stitches, but still, I started and finished the project in less than a week! Here it is, for your viewing pleasure (again, the colors aren’t true — it’s navy blue, forest green, and pale yellow):<\/p>\n

Lydia wants me to make one for her next, and I think I’ll use the same pattern I used for this one because it’s so quick and easy. I’d like to be able to get it done in a relatively timely manner so that she’s not the only kid without one.<\/p>\n

In other news, Lydia’s friend Sandra came home with her after school yesterday and Sandra came bearing the starter for another “friendship cake.” It seems as though we’ve hardly recovered from the one we got from another of her friends a few weeks ago, and now we’ve got to start all over again. It’s not really so much of a hassle to tend the batter and make the cake, but passing four more starters around at the end isn’t always so easy. I think this time I may just make up all the portions into cakes and freeze them.
