The chicken pox has turned out to be sort of a non-event here, at least so far. Only Petra has come down with it, and after a day or two of discomfort, she hasn’t been much bothered. The worst of it was undoubtedly that she had to miss a classmate’s birthday party yesterday. I’ve heard from several people that we should expect the others to be stuck down two weeks after Petra’s first spots appeared — if that holds true, we should have a week’s reprieve before a new round starts. With any luck, the rest of them will come down with it all at once so we can finally have it done. <\/p>\n
As for me, when I saw the neurologist a couple of weeks ago, he referred me for a new MRI, seeing as it’s been more than three years since my last one. He’s keen to get me started on Mabthera, a twice-yearly infusion of a chemotherapy drug. Apparently it’s all the rage in MS treatments these days. I’m somewhat less keen, but I did tell him I’d consider it if there’s been any worsening since my previous MRI. Tomorrow’s the day for the new test, and it’ll be probably another little while before I hear the results. <\/p>\n
The doctor also suggested that I start taking a mega-dose of vitamin D once a week, and I was much more amenable to that. I took my second dose today. I have no idea if or when or how I’ll know if it’s making a difference, but since it doesn’t seem like it’ll do any harm, I’m willing to go along with it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
